There is no setting more romantic than a white sandy beach at sunset – and the beaches of Puerto Vallarta have become one of the top choices for lovers, – new, old or soon-to-be-pledged.
On any given evening, it is possible to see couples posing on the rocks by Conchas Chinas beach, in their wedding finery, bathed in the pink light of sunset. Many resorts specialize in wedding parties and there are wedding planners, event specialists and venues that will make a wedding perfect.
And what better place to propose than on the gorgeous pier at Los Muertos Beach? Plus, it is so easy to fall in love when the weather is perfect and the locale buzzes with romance. Love is easy in Puerto Vallarta! It is the place where Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton started their sizzling love affair, after all!

Best Things To Do in the Afternoon in Puerto Vallarta
Afternoon is the time for langorous hours on the beach and there are plenty of places to stretch out on a lounger. If you are staying at a beachfront property, chances are you have access to their beach and facilities but if not, there are many waterside cafes where you can reserve a beach chair and umbrella for the cost of your drinks and food.
La Palapa
Find a lovely umbrella and lounge chair at the very pretty La Palapa, order a bucket of chilled cerveza and some nachos and guacamole and relax for the afternoon. If it gets too hot, the ocean is right there. If you run out of beer, a waiter will bring more. Great way to while away the afternoon hours!
Canopy El Eden
Maybe you are ready for some more vigorous adventure in an afternoon? The zipline at El Eden is a thrill ride that will take you skimming above the jungle and over the river and falls. It’s breathtaking! And afterwards you can swim in the icy pools below the falls and enjoy a light lunch at the cafe.
Los Arcos Snorkel and Private Beach excursion
Los Arcos is one of the iconic markers of Pv – the three curved arches of stone that protrude from the ocean a few miles south of the main town. The snorkeling is amazing, and there are lovely beaches nearby that are uncrowded and beautiful. This is a four hour excursion.
Best Places for Dinner in Puerto Vallarta
Romance can bloom over a great meal – and Puerto Vallarta has an abundance of romantic dining places.
Best Places to Stay in Puerto Vallarta
Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta
Located on a perfect bay just 20 minutes from the city of Puerto Vallarta, this hotel is well equipped to handle any wedding, any size and any level of complexity. Whether you want to be wed in the penthouse overlooking the ocean, or with your feet in the sand on the beach, this hotel can arrange it.
After Dark in Puerto Vallarta
One of the best places to be, if romance is on your mind, is on the malecon, for the golden hour. That is when everyone emerges from their sietstas, all refreshed and ready for a night of dining and fun. The malecon is usually busy as the sun goes down, with vendors setting up food booths, couples strolling, families out for dinner. It is a happy place to be after a busy day on the beach.
And everyone looks so good in that sunset glow!
El Colibri Cocktail Bar
The patio at El Colibri opens to the stars and the DJ plays great tracks. This is the place for a romantic cocktail before heading out for dinner. The bar doesn’t open till 8 pm and they do serve snacks and small dishes, but the big draw here is the elegant cocktails, all made with Mexican ingredients, with syrups and juices prepared on site. Try the Clover Rose, a mix of Mexican Diega gin with house made raspberry and pink pepper syrup and aquafaba – it’s not just delicious – it’s a gorgeous shade of pink.
